It is generally assumed that this saying is intended to be an affirmation of the power of positive thinking. But, there is no real evidence for this. It is very possible that the author was simply trying to make an inspirational point about the truth of the universe and the power of human imagination; or, perhaps, he was simply trying to make a statement about how important it is for each of us to focus on our own personal goals and abilities rather than looking too much beyond our own horizons.
